Blueprint Lucky Cat – Blue Monochrome Skateboard Wall Art
Blueprint Lucky Cat: the maneki-neko, the beckoning cat from Japanese shop counters, cast entirely in electric blue and rendered as a sculptural object against deep black. Since the Edo period the raised paw has been read as an invitation for customers and good fortune to come in. Usually it is gold, white or red plastic. Here it loses the colour and the kitsch and keeps only the gesture, a small icon of hope turned into sculpture.
Blueprint takes objects from the everyday and the iconic, things we pass without seeing, and renders them as monochrome blue sculptures, weightless against black. Each object becomes a study of itself.
