The painting depicts a real event described by the Historia Augusta: the Roman emperor Heliogabalus smothered his dinner guests under a cascade of rose petals released from the ceiling. Alma-Tadema had fresh roses shipped from the Riviera every week for four months during winter to paint this. The painting was shown at the Royal Academy in London and is now in a private collection.

About this diptych

Format: Two decks mounted side by side, each standing vertically — one continuous composition across 45 x 85 cm

Material: Grade-A 7-ply Canadian maple — the same wood used in professional skate decks

Print: Gallery-quality UV print — no glass needed

Mounting hardware not included — purchase separately

Ships from Berlin — worldwide delivery in protective packaging

See all two-panel diptych sets or three-panel triptychs (70 x 85 cm).
