Arcimboldo Vertumnus Portrait Skateboard Wall Art
Giuseppe Arcimboldo painted Vertumnus around 1590–1591 as a portrait of Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II — entirely constructed from fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Rudolf II was known for collecting curiosities and commissioning unusual art; Arcimboldo's composite heads were exactly that. Vertumnus was the Roman god of seasons and transformation. The portrait was meant as a compliment: the emperor as the abundance of nature itself. The original is at Skokloster Castle in Sweden.
